THE HIRSHORN MUSUEM

So today mom and I went to the Hirshhorn to go on a tour with dad. The Hirshhorn is actually a pretty interesting, cool place. If you go, there are two things you must make sure you don’t miss. First, the Hirshhorn has a trippy striped atrium. I really had to crawl around for a while and take it all in – reds, yellows, purples, oranges, greens, whites – very cool. What I don’t get is why people don’t paint fun stripes like that everywhere. We need more stripes at home, but my folks are, I think, boring, and paint every room a single boring color. I suspect it has something to do with being grown ups – every time we visit other grown ups they always have boring solid colored rooms. But if all museums are like this then museums are definitely for me.

The other awesome attraction at the Hirshhorn is the extremely cool fountain in the center of the donut shaped museum building that shoots water WAY up in the sky – do not miss this fountain. If you’re like me, you will hop around with glee…because few things are as cool as big fountains.

As for the tour – dad walked through several rooms and talked a lot…so for me it was less of a novelty. It was impressive to watch mom, as she’s gotten very good at feigning interest when dad talks. Apparently all of the art we saw was by Anselm Kiefer. He obviously is into big planes and books made of lead – which is pretty cool, but they were all drab and grey. There were no words in the books, but I don’t read, so that’s probably the kind of books I would make too. Well, no. I’d have striped books and striped big planes. A striped fountain…? hmmm…
